In Southeast Alaska, just south of Mt. Fairweather, are some of my dad's favorite fishing grounds. After following the salmon run north toward Yakutat, this special place often marked the end of a season.
In the early morning hours, I watched the sun rise over the majestic mountains and set across the Pacific Ocean, with many sea animals in between.
Despite the long hours and hard work alongside my three sisters, I came to understand how beautiful and fortunate my childhood was. Those years shaped the grit and determination it takes to pursue life as a professional artist.
This painting is a tribute to my parents, who finally pulled in the gear and headed south toward new sunrises and adventures ahead.
