Waiting For Change

While driving in and around many townships in South Africa, it was hard not to notice the many layers of poverty as people tried to make a living. Vendors often bought large bags of goods and would break them into smaller bags to sell to people passing by.

This lady was sitting with a towel over her legs to keep warm in the cool African morning. She was selling her goods while sitting among tires and an old broken down truck, while cars drove past along a busy, dusty road. I wanted to capture her, without the chaos and uncertainty around her, just her resilience and strength and the sun shining on her to give her hope.
